Speaking Axolotl La Area Bahia’s long running monthly Latinx reading series happens the third Thursday of each month. Come gather and hear Decolonized Verses, Spanglish Poesia,, Latinx Spoken Word and neighborhood chisme. Our very chingon and special features this month are Katherine Bahena-Benitez and Josiah Luis Alderete reading the poetry of Ricardo Teall.

Katherine Bahena-Benitez, is a queer Mexican Indigenous multidisciplinary artist, bicoastal between New York and California. Katherine is a writer, actor, model and teaching artist. They've trained at the American Conservatory Theater, the Eugene O’Neill Theater Center, The Juilliard School, and Broadway Advocacy Coalition at Columbia University. Katherine has been featured in Vogue, Remezcla, Chillhouse, HEROICA, Netflix, Fenty, Museum Guild, VoyageATL, Chillhouse, YITTY, Apostrophe and Reclamation Magazine. You can now find their writing in the anthology, Queer Voices of the World: Stories, Poems and Essays responding to worldwide LGBTQ+ Criminalization.
