  • 3036 24th Street San Francisco, CA 94110 USA (map)

!Join us this afternoon in our galeria as we celebrate the opening of Calixto Robles and Alexandra Blum’s new art show “Nature”!

Calixto Robles (b. 1957, Oaxaca, Mexico) is a painter, printmaker, and teacher. His work is inspired by the ancestral myths and symbols of the indigenous traditions of Mesoamerica. His most recent work changed from jaguars and warriors to angels, lotus flowers and images of peace - relying on spiritual iconography.

Ali Blum received BFA from Cornell University in Painting, and MFA in Printmaking from Washington University in St Louis, and learned screen printing at The Mission Cultural Center. She has had residencies at Curtiduria Print shop in Oaxaca, Mexico, and the De Young Museum in San Francisco. She actively exhibits and selected group and solo shows including the De Young Museum, Cornell University Hartell Gallery, San Francisco Public Library, Museo de la Filatelia de Oaxaca, Ligne Roset, Front Gallery, Somarts, The Mission Cultural Center, and The San Francisco Jewish Library. She has taught high school students for over 30 years and the students serve as a constant source of energy and inspiration. Ali has conducted workshops and live art demonstrations at the SFMOMA, De Young Friday Night Events, The Academy of Sciences, Asian Art Museum intern program, and The Jewish Museum. She enjoys the versatility of mixed media including monoprinting, screen printing, transfers, drawings, and gouache.
