Our Musical Medicina Lecture Series continues this month! Our amigxs from Del Corazon Music present "Músicos y Rebeldes", a freeform-interview and discussion with the renowned Mexican printmaker Sergio Sánchez Santamaría, as we welcome him to San Francisco for the very first time!... In this plática, he will be discussing the importance of music within his own artistic journey, from his early interest in Mexico City's Punk & Metal scene to a developed taste for 1980's Dutch Darkwave, it was Alternative music that sustained him through his tumultuous studies at the prestigious national art school "La Esmeralda", onto his eventual encounters with el Taller de Gráfica Popular, which is where he was exposed to the work of Mexico's most storied & historically important printmakers...
Conducted in Spanish by the superb and award-winning radio & print journalist Chelis López, we are thrilled to count on her participation as well and are truly excited to hear them discuss música, art & liberation... While there will also be an English language presentation and then a bilingual Q+A after the actual plática, we are striving to keep this event as all-inclusive & sin fronteras as possible... And so, kicking off (and also closing) the event will be a fun reception & rebel-mixer featuring some light-nosh, chelas, agüita fresca and the musical-stylings of our dear friend and fellow rebel-artist, Txutxo Pérez!...
Please arrive early & please stay late as this will be Sergio's ONLY Bay Area appearance!... We will have some limited merch and other items for sale, as we look forward to seeing everyone that night, muchísimas gracias!...
